The people that are looking for social credibility without actually doing anything to gain that credibility, have discovered a new way to do it with Google+.
Much the same as Twitter users try to use the #FF #FollowFriday hashtag to get more follows, or other techniques like adding #followback to their profile bio. Personally, I won’t follow anyone that uses those techniques.
Google Circle Share Chains
Basically, a circle share is where you share one of your circles with your followers, it’s a great way to find people interested in specific topics to add to your circles. I have used it in the past to add people for interests like “Real Estate”. Typically I look for smaller circles and then create a test circle I can dump them in while I look closer at them. (that’s another article for another time)
It’s become common place to create these chain circle shares.
I like to call them Circle Jerks
Why? Well it’s simple. They create these rules you have to follow to get in on the circle (be added to it for the next share):
1. ADD the circle this insures you stay in it.
2. Share the post.
3. Plus the post
4. Comment to be added once you have done this!
That is all simple right!
This creates a chain of worthless shares, comments, and plusses. Most times they have 400-500 (500 is the max for sharing) people in these circles, and all most of them had to do is follow those instructions.
What possible value is that? Absolutely none!
Some Circle Share Ideas:
I am currently curating a circle that I manually add everyone that interacts with me on my posts throughout the week. I share this circle on Sundays:
I will be honest, I totally stole this idea from Dustin Stout and his #muchbettermonday posts.
My SuperstarEngagers circle is all the people that have real conversations with me on my posts. Period. It’s a growing list, that has some top notch people in it. (here is this weeks share) I don’t require any other actions to get in on it. I am basically doing two things here:
Thanking my engagers.
Sharing them with my other followers
Thanking them is the real reason, I notify all of them that are included in it, and want them to know I appreciate the engagement and conversations they have with me. One thing I will note is that I don’t add people that leave one word comments on my post. Only thoughtful commentors.
Sharing them with others, letting them know these people will actually fill your posts with content helps not only the engagers increase their reach, but it helps the people that add them get more conversation and actual engaged followers.
Some other ideas, and circles I am working on include:
these users engage with me on my image posts, I love to share images I take and edit with my smartphone
Real Estate Engagers
these are people in real estate related industries that are engagers too, I am a builder and like to network, share, and learn with these professionals
Notice the theme of my circles I plan to share? They are all engagers. They aren’t spammers, they aren’t trying to pad numbers to get more followers, they are genuine conversationalists and networkers!
Stay away from the circle jerks and find real engagers. Get out there and interact with people. Be social. Easy right? Don’t make it so complicated….
